YIIIKKKEESS!! I want to do that. Is that weird?!
Yesterday: Walked dog 15 minutes, went to bed at 10pm!!!
This morning: Woke up at 4:45am :-| Did a few random tasks for school, did a PowerSculpt Jillian Michaels DVD for 30 minutes (shoutout to Mom and DW - thanks - first time I've used it! It was good!) Then 10-minute dog-walk. Tonight, another 40-minute dog walk with TK and KA and K's little rescue dog. Yay!
Honestly, I've been super busy with homework and meetings and stuff, so any extra time on the computer has been to turn on Netflix and chill for an hour or so at night. I'm not going to write much else today, but wanted to stick the update in for the last couple of days!
OH YEAH! And, on Tuesday night, TK and I went to CREATE Club on campus and had a lot of fun creating 'perspective' art with about 15 other people. I'll post when I finally get a picture from someone. . .
Have a great day (or night)! And, as always, find ways to keep moving your amazing body!
Oh - and for fun - check out this link (on a computer):

FRUSTRATED, much?!
DANGIT!
You have no idea that I actually had those little symbol thingies %*&!#$ in the "post title", erased, re-wrote them, deleted, and re-re-wrote them. I think about dumb stuff like that a lot. Too much. And then they didn't even work! %*&!#$!!!!!!!
Today came after a really strange and crappy yesterday. And don't mock me by saying that today always comes after yesterday, or yesterday wouldn't be yesterday. I KNOW. I'm having ISSUES! Yesterday was another crapshoot to get out of bed and get going in the morning, followed by not just one but two attempts at my life by individuals on 2-wheeled vehicles, a mess-up at the Stadium for football tickets, a reprimand from my immediate supervisor for something that was *none of my concern*, felt too cruddy to visit with a friend in the evening, and ended up being awake until 3:30am. 3:30!! Just sitting at the computer, typing letters to my health insurance company and the President of the United States. No big deal. Oh, and watching The Tudors on Netflix. Crazy, delusional pseudo-insomnia.
TODAY. Started off a bit better than yesterday, although sleeping in meant a) missing morning workout and b) not really getting extra sleep because I stayed up all damn night. But, I woke up and got to work and it was okay. Came home and had a delicious salad (mixed greens, cauliflower, avacado, sunflower seeds, garbonzo beans *yummy*, and of course, dressing--I've been using olive oil + vinegar Newman's Own.) *Oh, by the way, I ate McDonalds yesterday. Embarrassing. I wanted it and kept thinking about it and got it. And felt SUPER guilty after.* BACK TO TODAY quit being so distractable! I decided today to try on the dress that I will be wearing for my brother and sister-in-law(to be)'s wedding in October. I had this overwhelming craving for chicken and fries. And they weren't even very good. Stupid. See? Even health educators and personal trainers succomb to pressures and lack will-power! THE DRESS. Tangent, much? While talking to my mom on the phone, I wieldly maneuvered myself into the dress and started attempting to zi...iipp...fat gal in a dress-too-smaaaaalll >>Tommy Boy shoutout<<. Dangit! Okay. So, at this point, I am laughing and swearing and wanting a cheeseburger and wanting to go for a run all at the same time. Do I try some diet modification and continue increasing my workout routine? (Yes). Do I want to? (Sort of). Maybe I can go back in and get a dress in a size bigger? (Yes, please!) Problem with size bigger is that my mental health will suffer. Win with size bigger is that I don't need to stress about getting enough exercise and not indulging in fun foods. Problem with size bigger is needing to go to the store (hassle) and see if they have a bigger size (embarrassing). Win with size bigger - well, maybe just a neutral - is that the dress I have is a size "smaller" than I 'was', anyway, because it's an A-line, so it's really 'okay' to get a size bigger (riight). Problem with size bigger is that I will have to figure out a way to keep the top from falling off my boobless chest. Hmm.
So. After taking off the dress, hollering a couple of explicits, and laughing, I put on my socks and shoes, rounded up the dog and roommate, and we went for a 45 minute walk. BTN (better than nothing). My hips really started to hurt around the 25-30 minute mark, but we weren't going fast, so we kept the pace. *Mom suggested that I try Watkins Linimax for the pain that I have. I think I'm going to give it a try. More on supplements another time - I gotta get this posted "today" (I know - obsess, much?!)
Meanwhile, this evening, I skyped with my sis. We laughed, grumbled, and commiserated. I'm not sure what I am going to do about the dress, at this point. I do know that I need to get my behind to bed and I need to keep moving. KEEP MOVING! Couple of really good thoughts from the sis: "Remember, the pain [I have] does not necessarily mean that something is wrong (ie. broken); movement and low impact activity is good," and, "What are you going to do to remedy this [binge eating/crummy food sneaking into diet]?"
Good NIGHT. :) Hope you rest well. I hope I do, too. Felt good to walk. Why don't I feel the good effects of the walk PRIOR to walking, or at least some of them, to encourage me to walk? Hmm.

Scorned by the Scale!
I KNOW, I know. Weight is only a number. The scale doesn't tell the whole story/show the whole picture. I KNOW! I also know that even the at my most wholistic-minded, I STILL get upset when my weight creeps up. And, the creep has creeped up HUGE.
Let me list the many frustrating parts of this reality:
1) My knowledge - I know better (than to allow myself to gain unnecessary, unhealthy weight).
2) My education/career field. HEALTH EDUCATION. EXERCISE SCIENCE.
3) I'm a certfied personal trainer. Hel-LOOOO!
4) Family history/traits: we are not small people and we are not without health-related "family history".
5) Reasons for gain: indulgent, voracious eating, along with the miserable pair of not-enough-physical-activity + general fatigue every day.
6) When I feel good and have time to exercise, some dumb excuse creeps into my mind.
7) When I have pain or fatigue, I get down because it hurts or takes too much energy to move.
8) I know I feel better after exercising - physically, mentally . . .
I remember when I was super frustrated that I was 175lbs. I was working out, eating well, and still thought I needed to lose weight. Now, at . . . oh my gosh, I am doing this publically . . . 194lbs (as of last night--highest that I've ever been) and weak . . . I look back and *wish* I were back at 175 and strong. Truthfully, if I were strong and fit, that number wouldn't be a big deal, considering that I'm 5'10". However, a glimpse in the mirror at my profile on Wednesday afternoon almost threw me into a bulimic tizzy.
Whoa, Nelly. Need some attainable goals, STAT!
Actually, I started last week with the goals . . . I've just not been posting blogs, what with my very little amount of exercise and very HIGH amount of time spent in the library, either doing homework or working (read: SICK OF SITTING AT THE COMPUTER).
Goals included, in order:
1) Get to bed around* 11:00pm. (I didn't say exactly 11 because I knew I would need a little bit of flex room. So far, since last Saturday or Sunday, I have met that goal (within 15-30 minutes). I see success in that because I'm not staying up until 12, 1, or even 2am<---SILLY.
2) Take my multi-vitamin in the morning with breakfast. I have oscillated back and forth with the whole "vitamin" concept (usually sticking with, "if I eat a balanced diet, I don't need supplementation). With all of the crap happening in out environment, along with further nutritional education, I have decided that SOME multi-vitamins are worth the cost (as far as health benefits).
3) Set alarm for 6:30-7am. Just start getting used to waking up regularly at an earlier time. Later, I would like to utilize this early-morning period for exercise (again); for now, attainable goals that are not overwhelming and are relatively easy to maintain is the key to success.
So, with that, I have reached some goals and am working to stick with them. I am allowing some flexibility, as I mentioned in the bedtime, to be sure that I don't "give up" because it's too hard.
After last night's fit with the fat (mostly the midsection, if you are interested, hahaha. TMI? Eh. Oh well.), I began today with adding more movement to my day. First of all, I woke up at 730am (see, flexibility - instead of 7am, slept extra 30 minutes). And by 8 had drank a glass of water and was ready to go out to walk/jog with the dog! However, the smoke in the air from the raging forest fires is really irritating to my through and eyes and gives me a headache. Road block? Tough. I am going to hurdle this obstacle! I chose, instead, to find a yoga routine on Netflix and set to stretching! 30 minutes later, I felt really good. Then, time for school, missed an earlier bus, so I started walking to the next bus stop . . . which turned into walking to 4 bus stops away from the one by my apartment, since the buses run every 10-or so minutes. After class, the smoke was still icky, so I didn't go out to the pool like I had wanted . . . instead, I put on some Hulu (watched House) and did some lower body+abs+stretching exercises. 10 more minutes. YAY.
Keep adding "10 more minutes". This body will change.
Oh - P.S. I also chatted today with a friend from home about fitness certifications, which got me stimulated to move. And I just read an email from Coach Julie Page, who NEVER fails to motivate and inspire.
