Diligent about Discovery

So I like alliteration!

In my eagerness to be present where I am and not be so adament about "what I will do when I grow up"/planning for 'tomorrow', I am trying very hard to search for opportunities to discover (either on my own or through recommendations) neat and sometimes unusual places.

Yesterday was my last midterm before spring break (YAHOO!!!) and after sitting VERY uncomfortably in a desk that I perceive to be too small for 90 minutes to take a fill-in-the-bubble-sheet + essay exam, I was MORE than thrilled to get back out into the B-E-A-utiful February weather in Gainesville!

My roomies and I had met some people from our apartment complex the other night that have a golden retriever almost the same age as mine!  We were excitedly swapping, "They are SUCH good dogs. . . SO smart . . . SO friendly and loyal . . ." stories when one of 'Duchess's owners mentioned that they take her to a fresh water creek to play in - I'm pretty sure both my dog's and my ears perked up at this news!  I had been trying to figure out where to take my poor over-dressed water-loving dog that didn't have either stagnant swampy stink water or alligators (or, likely, both).  They mentioned Hogtown Creek; I inquired about this supposed creek and my wonderful new friend Coral told me how to get there and even about the trails!

Roomies! Pack up!  Time for afternoon discovery!

Dog, towels, roomies, and camera in tow, off we meandered (pun intended!) to find the little oasis.  We were more than pleasantly surprised!  We found gorgeous trails, nice wooded boardwalks, and YES! a fresh-water creek with WHITE sand to play in!  It was mere minutes before we were all in the water :-)

TK's excited for soft, white sand!

Heeeeeey! (Our peacock!)
What a delightfully refreshing experience - mind and body - to be moving and taking in new scenery.  I highly recommend to anyone; even if it is the same walking path or bike route you take weekly or even daily - look around and take in nature :-)  Quite amazing!

Enter: Fierce little monkey!

HURRY AND TAKE IT BEFORE THIS BRANCH BREAKS!
