WA-HOO and WOW-EE was it ever good to swim today!
Haven't posted in a while - all the writing and studying for classes either took up my time/creative juices or I just didn't feel like writing!
The most moving that I did in the last few weeks consisted of walking from the bus-to-the-library-back-to-the-bus and stretch breaks at the library! Walking the dog went in 5-10 minute spurts 1-3 times per day. And, I slept a lot :)
The last few days, I have begun to reclaim my movement. Walking the dog is needing to be done during the cooler parts of the day to avoid the heat and sun, so 30-minute walks every or every-other night has been nice. Last night - late - I hopped in the pool at my apartment complex to a) cool down, b) attempt to "ice"/stretch my back, which I aggravated lifting/moving my dog's food tote (grr).
Today . . . thanks to the encouragement of good pal CO, I got my behind to the Florida Pool for a REAL swim! Well, I didn't set any records or do anything outrageously awesome BUT I got in, did 8 total lengths/4 broken laps, doing about 3-5 minutes of stretching between each length. My back ached but the stretching helping loosen up my sore hips and the stretching ALSO helped prevent my feet from cramping up! Yay!
Am really glad that I got in the water to actually swim today. I am way out of shape but now that I've got "one foot in the water" I can continue to use swimming and stretching as a mode of movement.
Maybe I'll even get strong enough to start jogging again . . . and I really could be biking right now if I got my lazy sleepyhead outta bed in the morning to go before its 96 degrees outside . . .
Celebrate the small victories :) Time for bed!
