I'm still here!

Hey-yo!

I haven't posted in a coon's age!  <--WOW does THAT ever make me sound like a nort'erner!  :-)  I just finished up a nice 45-min walk with the dog followed by about 15-minutes of stretching.   Feels SO good to move in the warm weather and stretch . . . even though sometimes it feels like I need a stick of dynamite to get "ready" to go!

The last few days have been interspersed with nice long evening walks with my little animal and sometimes my roommate.  (I cannot tell you how much I appreciate having a roommate and friend that enjoys getting out for a walk after work/school!)  TK suggested jogging yesterday and, although I instinctively knew that it wasn't going to feel right for me, I tried anyway.  Seems as though I haven't run (read: slow-paced-trot) in . . . a coon's age?! Hah!  After about 10 minutes of warmup walking and some stretching, we started to boogie.  Note that TK's "jog" can be likened to a deer bound and my "jog" is barely a quick-step walk.  Around 5-seconds into the jog my legs felt like they had been set on fire.  I thought that pushing through it "at least to the corner" would help them remember that they can, indeed, do this - even sans recent jogging and with my extra weight.  To the corner they made it.  That's all, folks.  OOF-dah!

I was more than a bit discouraged.  I opted last night to sleep with my night-splints on again (hey - I bought them, might as well use them, right?). This morning my calves didn't feel tight and, lo and behold, I was able to do a couple of inteval jogs during my walk today WITHOUT BURNING! Nice!!  Point: splints!  (I haven't been wearing them because I do not want to become dependent on them!  I want to be mindful to stretch and massage thoroughly every day to prevent the tightness.)

My sleep schedule has been out of whack seemingly more than usual.  I suppose the increase in evening socializing has attributed to that . . . last night at Mother's watching the UF GATOR MEN'S BASKETBALL chomp BYU with some new friends. . .I guess I cannot complain, because I was able to take a nap not long after I ate breakfast this morning :-)  Haha.  I haven't been productive by way of homework AT ALL in the last 4 days?  But I'm enjoying some other pieces of life and taking some time for me.  Sometimes I need to do that.  And be okay with it.  Right?  I say, yes :-)  I will have pleeeenty of time for homework alllllll daaaay in the library tomorrow (when I will be wishing I were at the lake soaking up rays and playing on the boats . . .uuugh!!)  Oh well.  Sometimes stuff just gotta get done.  Want to be able to watch the Gators CHOMP Gator-bait Bulldogs tomorrow night ;-)

TK is home - wants to go for a walk - ALWAYS take people up on that offer :-)
