You're back to read MORE of this fluff? Wow. You must have less of a . . . wait, I mean, Hey! Nice to have you back!!! :-)
First - I want to give you a bit of a glimpse at my daily devotion today:
"Come to me for rest and refreshment. The journey has been too much for you, and you are bone-weary. Do not be ashamed of your exhaustion. Instead, see it as an opportunity for Me to take charge of your life." -- from Jesus Calling: Enjoying peace in His presence. Devotions for every day of the year, by Sarah Young. (Thanks for the book, brother Joe!)
Uh, God? Is that you? Are you talking about my bike ride yesterday? It seems like it! :-)
So, are you wondering how I fared after yesterday's torture/training? To be honest - ache set in before reaching slumber land. I did eat a banana before bed hoping to help muscle recovery/dispense aches. I'm not a nutritionist by any frame of the imagination but I do know that bananas are helpful in post-workout recovery due to nutritional content.
This morning - knees were crack-a-lackin' and thighs and hips were a BIT sore. Feet weren't terrible; I'm definitely putting mental stock into the night-splint concept, as it has given me three mornings of "relief" in a row! (I have plantar fasciitis - aka - OWWWWIE feet. After talking with a friend who deals daily with the torment of painful soles and picking the brains of physical therapists, chiropractors, and other athletes dealing with the infamous "PF", I invested in a pair of night splints by "Dr. Leonard" (found on Amazon.com!). I didn't go with the "boot" variation because they looked U-N-C-O-M-F-O-R-T-A-B-L-E! Imagine sleeping in a boot-cast like people who break their ankles! (I'm sorry if you have ever experienced this).
ANYwho - these night splints are little dohickeys that simply strap my foot to my calf and don't let my ankle drop. (Dropped foot, not to be confused with the medical term "drop foot", is my unscientific term for when I lay flat on my back and my toes nearly touch the ground because my shins are not holding them up? Or, perhaps my calves are too tight?) Regardless, my calves feel nice and limber in the morning and no more of the tender, "hot", needles on the soles of my feet all day! Not too shabby.
Are you wondering whether I held true to my notion of yoga and dog walking today? Well, I surely did half of it - I did YogaX, part of the P90X series (super-intense, muscle confusion workout that is meant to take place for 90 days, for those of you who aren't sure what P90X is). Now hold on a second - I did not do the WHOLE YogaX. I am not at THAT caliber! I did 30 minutes, successfully adding one pose more than I did last time. WOW was that a workout!! Awesome. And my muscles, yes tired, feel good. As far as the dog walk - it's been practically monsoon raining all day today - poor poochy - waiting for a break in the clouds. (She needs it as much if not more than I do!)
Meanwhile, I'm eating some num-nums: beef stirfry strips with spinach, green pepper, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, a spritz of olive oil, and some Ranchero Sazon seasoning (I know, some salt in the seasoning, but it's sooooooooooo delicious!!)
I wonder if anyone will even read this today. Even if not, I guess this is a good way for me to unlease some journal thoughts and keep track of my exercise and eating a little bit.
OH - I have to say - I read a little more of SFT last night and, again, author Jayne Williams makes me laugh right out loud! THANK YOU, JAYNE! You are a psychological/emotional "healer"! Laughter is GREAT medicine!
