Here it is, even if you didn't request.
Didn't use the night splints last night - achy left arch and tight-ish calves this morning; lots of stretching all day. Went on a nice, casual bike ride for about an hour; only averaged about 10mph, so very comfortable. Just to get moving and get my "seat" more "in shape" for the bicycling. Actually - what spurred this rather than another form of exercise today was the knowledge that UFCampus Student Government provides a Bike Repair service - FOR FREE! That's right! From 10am-4pm Mon-Fri people can ride (or drag) their bikes to this little outdoor setup by the union and have adjustments done: put some grease/oil on gears, get brakes checked, air up tires, and even get "new" recycled tires that may have been taken off (read: stripped from) a bike that was left unattended. (What I mean is that they do not want bikes just dropped off to be fixed. If a bike is left, it will be stripped for parts!)
So - my roomie (TK) and I toodled our lil' Minnesota bikin' behinds over to campus and had some maintenance done on the bikes! NICE! At first, there was no one there but people who were working on their own bikes. I stumbled around for a bit and located a sign-in sheet and some stuff for TK to use on her rusty gears while I waited for someone who knew what he/she was doing! Alas, a gent recognized to this damsel's distressed pacing and asked how he could help. Yay!! And we were off on our merry way.
We toured around to Lake Alice (where the alligators of campus actually live!) and peered around in the Baughman Center, which is a neat non-denominational "meditation"-type building that is all windows; apparently a lot of wedding ceremonies take place there. I have attempted to upload a picture or two - hope they work!
After biking around campus for a bit, I showed TK where I got my sissy-butt whooped (aka where the Hawthorne Bike Trail begins) and we rode out there for a bit. Until my hunger and thirst became too much to ignore.
Imagine that - Nicole - Hungry? WEIRD.
Back we came. Poor puppy - I didn't take her on a walk, as I was sooooo pooped out (perhaps from the influx of physical activity this week?) that I took a snooze between my lunch and evening class. I am making a 'pact' to take her for a walk after I post this. Before homework. Hehe! Diversion tactic!
